Dr Annie Weir

Why the Women's Fund?

I donate to a variety of charities and I was happy to add the Women’s Fund into the mix. I believe that supporting women to achieve their aspirations and goals is good for all of us. I like the idea of women having a helping hand, to be empowered to reach their full potential and achieve goals they have set.

How or where do you see the Women's Fund making a difference?

All women's and girls' lives matter! I value the contribution that each woman can make to their loved ones, friends and the community. In my experience the pay it forward model works for me – help one woman at a time and you are effectively helping many others in their lives.

Who is your biggest female role model/inspiration and why?

Mother Theresa – she was thinker, hugely insightful about humanity, she knew herself well, worked in the service of God with unwavering support for those most in need.

Finish this sentence: "In 10 years' time, I want women and girls in New Zealand to…"

"...have experienced a significant reduction in family harm."
