The North Shore Fund up and running.

Many of us feel a connection to the area or community in which we grew up – and Sir Stephen Tindall is no exception. The North Shore businessman has given his full support to the North Shore Fund; a dedicated new fund established by Auckland Foundation to provide funding for charities and community groups on the Shore.

"The North Shore Fund is a fantastic way for Shore residents to make a lasting, positive contribution to this beautiful part of Auckland we call home. Locals can open a ‘living fund’ or leave a gift in their will to local causes close to their hearts. This new fund will manage the donation on their behalf, ensuring it makes a significant difference to those who need it the most."

Sir Stephen believes that the good life we enjoy today is a result of past generosity of our forebears.

"We have the opportunity through Community Foundations to leave the same legacy to the next generations," he said.

Based on an international model of philanthropy, the community foundation model centres on the notion of place-based giving; people giving back to a specific geographic region which holds significance to them. And Sir Stephen is an enthusiastic supporter of this model of giving.

The North Shore Fund will be administered by Auckland Foundation, who will invest the capital to generate an income that will support local causes long into the future.

An Advisory Committee comprising local residents: Buck Shelford, Judy Bailey, Chris Reeve, Geoff Clews, Diane Hale and Joseph Bergin has been established.
